Panthic politics and the Akali leadership are seen to be in turmoil during this period. Having received religious salaries from the Akal Takht Sahib, they refuse to accept the political decree of the Gurmat of the Akal Takht Sahib, in which the Akali Dal Working Committee was ordered to accept the resignation of Sukhbir Singh as the president and the other was instructed to bring together the Badal faction and the rebel faction and recruit them according to the committee established by the Akal Takht Sahib. The Badal Akali Dal and the Shiromani Committee continued to rebel against this order and continued to refuse the order of the Akal Takht Sahib and continued to take decisions against the order of the Akal Takht Sahib to save the presidency of Sukhbir Singh Badal. Senior journalist and thinker Jagtar Singh has commented on these events that the Shiromani Committee has become a committee of the Badals.
Panthic politics and the Akali leadership are seen to be in turmoil during this period. The Akal Takht Sahib, which has already received religious salaries, refuses to accept the political decree of the Gurmat of the Akal Takht Sahib, in which the Akali Dal Working Committee was ordered to accept the resignation of Sukhbir Singh as the president and the other was instructed to unite the Badal faction and the rebel faction and recruit them according to the committee established by the Akal Takht Sahib. During this meeting held recently under the leadership of Shiromani Committee President Harjinder Singh Dhami, the internal committee also rejected the resolution of the internal committee meeting of December 9. has been given, in which S. Narayan Singh Chaura was demanded to be expelled from the Panth. Along with this, a resolution was passed to extend the term of the inquiry committee formed in the internal committee meeting of December 19 regarding Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh for one month in view of the elections of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
This resolution has also expressed a commitment that the investigation into this matter will be completely impartial. However, sources believe that the term of the inquiry committee can be further extended.
There is a discussion in the Panthic circles about the cancellation of the resolution passed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in the internal committee meeting of December 9 regarding the expulsion of Bhai Narayan Singh Chaura from the Panth after 24 days, which was withdrawn after seeing the strong opposition to this resolution by Dal Khalsa and other Panthic and extremist organizations. Along with this, with the rejection of this resolution, the four-member committee formed under the leadership of Raghujit Singh Virk to investigate the incident of firing has also been dissolved without conducting any investigation. On the other hand, the Secretary General of the Sikh organization Dal Khalsa, Kanwarpal Singh, who opposed this resolution the most, said that the Shiromani Committee has taken the right decision by rejecting the resolution, which has stopped the internal rift from increasing within the community. The Dal Khalsa leader said that the Shiromani Committee President Dhami, with his wisdom, has taken the right decision by reversing the wrong trend being set by the committee while there was still time.
It is clear from this that the Badal Dal does not want to escalate the conflict with the Khalistanis, but wants to raise its politics in the conflict with Giani Harpreet Singh and the rebel faction.
Panthic circles believe that the Shiromani Committee is challenging the Akal Takht Sahib under the influence of the Badal Dal and has shown that the Shiromani Committee, which is controlled by the Badal Dal, is the supreme body that is surrounded by the case of sacrilege. However, the Shiromani Committee does not have the authority to investigate the allegations made against Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh. Jathedars of the Takht Sahibs are not under the Gurdwara Act. Under the leadership of the Badal Dal, the Shiromani Committee is treating the Jathedars like employees.
By doing this, the Shiromani Committee has taken revenge on Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, because the Gurmats that have been issued against the criminal leadership from the Akal Takht Sahib were all the policy and narrative of Jathedar Harpreet Singh so that the Sikh Panth could be satisfied with the decision of the Akal Takht Sahib and the ancient autonomous tradition of the Akal Takht Sahib should be restored.
What does Jathedar Harpreet Singh say
Regarding this, Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said that I have just come to know that the investigation period of the unofficial committee that was formed to investigate against me has been extended by one month. I think that the committee’s period has not been extended by one month, but I have been given one month so that any decision in my case is kept pending. Giani Harpreet Singh said that I want to say one thing clearly that I do not care. Charges have been made against me. Even if my services are terminated under these charges, I have no regrets. He said that I had joined the decision of the five Singh Sahibans on December 2. He said that I will remain steadfast and will not get into any kind of panic or anxiety. Giani Harpreet Singh said that struggles teach a person to live and fight.
He appealed to the leadership of the Shiromani Akali Dal and said that the Akali Dal is a regional party of the Sikhs and a representative organization. If it survives, then save it. To save it, the Akali leaders should stand firm, just as the old Akalis used to do to strengthen their Panthic community. Giani Harpreet Singh said that big pillars have been born in the Akali Dal. People will leave but the Akali Dal will remain the same. He said that the Akali Dal will survive only when our traditions and customs are preserved.
