A corruption case has been registered against Sanjeev Kalia, who was a senior assistant in Jalandhar Improvement Trust (now posted in Hoshiarpur). Sanjeev Kalia, while posted in Jalandhar, misused his position and got a plot worth crores of rupees registered in the name of his wife. The Punjab Vigilance Bureau, in its ongoing drive against corruption, has registered a case against Sanjeev Kalia, Senior Assistant, Municipal Improvement Trust, Jalandhar (now posted in Hoshiarpur), for committing irregularities by misusing his position in the Municipal Improvement Trust, Jalandhar and for fraudulently acquiring a plot in the name of his wife.

Sanjeev Kalia did such fraud

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that during the investigation of complaint number 75/2022, it was found that the said Sanjeev Kalia had written a letter on April 21, 2010 to the Patwari to give a report of the Khasra number of the said plot without receiving the construction fee of Rs 14,35,350 from Davinderpal Kaur for plot number 828 without receiving the construction fee of Rs 14,35,350 and despite not being a dealing hand, by misusing his position.

After this, the Patwari sent the report related to the Khasra number to the Superintendent Sales, but Sanjeev Kalia, bypassing the Superintendent, got the said plot allotted in the name of Davinderpal Kaur directly from the then Chairman without receiving the construction fee of Rs 14,35,350.Besides this, the Nagar Improvement Trust issued a letter on 13/10/2016 stating “No Objection” NDC in the name of Davinderpal Kaur, whereas Davinderpal Kaur had died on 12/01/2015, due to which this NDC could not be issued. The spokesperson said that according to the statement given by EO of Improvement Trust, Jatinder Singh, during the investigation, this NDC issued on 13.10.2016 did not have his signature, but the Improvement Trust clarified through its office letter dated 11.10.2024 that this NDC bears the signature of Jatinder Singh, the Executive Officer, and this signature matches with the signatures made on the rest of the documents of the Executive Officer.
