Father commits suicide after killing his two children and wife in California
Police have released details of the four deaths in a house in the city of Milpitas, California, and said it was a murder-suicide. The father shot his two children and his wife before shooting himself. Milpitas Police Chief Jared Hernandez said in a press release that the incident occurred around 9 p.m. last night when a relative of the deceased called police and expressed concern that something unusual had happened. When police arrived at the scene, they found four people, including two children, dead in the house. The deceased have been identified as 36-year-old Vinh Nguyen, 36-year-old Betty Pham, and their 9-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter. According to police, each of the deceased had been shot once and Nguyen was clearly responsible for the incident. A gun registered to him was recovered from the scene. The police chief expressed regret over the incident and appealed to the public to seek police assistance to prevent such incidents. According to police, Milpitas has a Suicide Prevention Task Force. This task force works in conjunction with Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services.
