Municipal elections in Ludhiana – AAP gets a jolt, wives of two MLAs lose, many leaders including Deepika Sunny Bhalla, Indu Shah, Pankaj Kaka’s wife and Raji win
The results of the municipal corporation elections in Ludhiana have started being declared. But AAP has suffered a major setback in these elections. Of course, AAP will get its own mayor, but it could not get as many seats as the party claimed. However, MLA Gurpreet Gogi’s wife and MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi’s wife have lost. Ashok Pappi’s wife was defeated by BJP candidate Poonam Rattada. Veteran leader Bharat Bhushan Ashu’s wife Mamta Ashu has also lost. While Gurpreet Gogi’s wife Sukhchain Gogi was defeated by Congress candidate Inderjit Singh Indi (PA of former minister Ashu). While Mamta Ashu was defeated by AAP candidate Gurpreet Babbal’s wife. Deepika Sunny Bhalla, wife of Ashu’s close aide Sunny Bhalla, has won from ward number 69 on a Congress ticket. She defeated BJP candidate Sanjeev Dhanda. However, counting of votes is still going on in many wards. While in ward number 71, from where former minister Ashu’s brother Narinder Kala’s wife also lost the election, she was defeated by Manu Jayadrath’s wife. Pankaj Kaka won from ward 59. BJP candidate Gauravjit Singh Gora won from ward number 80. He won with majority leaving behind AAP, Congress and Akali Dal. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Manpreet Singh Manna won from ward number 78. AAP candidate Kapil Kumar Sonu won from ward number 72. Congress candidate Nirmal Kaira won from ward number 52. Congress candidate Jagmeet Noni was the winner from ward number 42. Kapil Kumar Sonu won from ward 72. Munish Shah’s wife Indu Munish Shah won from ward 64. Maharaj Singh Raji from ward 65, Anne Rohit Sikka from ward 66, while MLA Madan Lal Bagga’s son Aman Bagga won from ward 94. AAP candidate Sukhmel Singh won from ward number 14. Congress candidate Parminder Soma won from ward number 45. AAP candidate Tajinder Kaur Raja won from ward number 91. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sohan Singh Goga is the winner from ward number 44. Aam Aadmi Party’s Aman Baga is ahead from ward number 94. AAP’s Jaspal Singh Grewal has won the election from ward 21.
