Nagar Kirtan organized from Sri Akal Takht Sahib on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib
On the occasion of the martyrdom day of the ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, a Nagar Kirtan was organized by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee today from Sri Akal Takht Sahib to Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal. Under the umbrella of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and led by the Panj Pyares, the Nagar Kirtan was inaugurated by the Chief Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Jathedar Singh Sahib of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh, after offering prayers, adorned the holy form of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in a golden palanquin and also performed the service of Chaur Sahib during the Nagar Kirtan.
The Nagar Kirtan started from Sri Akal Takht Sahib and passed through the Parkarmas of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, passing through Sri Guru Ramdas Niwas, Chowk Paragdas, Chowk Manna Singh, Chowk Karori, Chowk Baba Sahib, Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai, Galiara, Gurdwara Kaulsar Sahib, Atta Mandi, Bazaar Bansan, Bazaar Paparan, Bazaar Kathian, Guru Bazaar and ended at Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal. During this, the Sangat welcomed the Nagar Kirtan at various places and paid homage to the Guru Sahib. A large number of Sangats, including Gatka and band parties, also participated in the Nagar Kirtan.
On this occasion, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh said that by sacrificing his life for the protection of religion, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji created a unique history in the world. He also inspired the Sangats to follow the path shown by Guru Sahib Ji.
