‘Daan Utsav 2024’ will be celebrated from October 2 to October 8


Apart from Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Mohali, Chandigarh, Ropar and Patiala, this year Dan Utsav will also be celebrated in Panchkula (Haryana) and Delhi.

Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has announced to celebrate ‘Daan Utsav 2024’ from October 2 to 8 this year in collaboration with City Needs.

Giving information in this regard at Circuit House on Monday, Municipal Corporation Assistant Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon and Director City Needs Manit Dewan said that this festival is being celebrated on the instructions of Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aditya Dechalwal. In addition to Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Mohali, Chandigarh, Ropar and Patiala, Dan Utsav is also being celebrated in Panchkula (Haryana) and Delhi this year.

On this occasion, Patron City Needs Dr. SB Pandhi, industrialist Gurmeet Singh Kular, industrialist Lakhwinder Chhabra, social activist Radhika Jaitwani, environmentalist Colonel JS Gill etc. were also present.

Sekhon and Diwan appealed to the city residents to participate more in the charity festival and donate old or new items/clothes/equipment etc. for the needy persons.

Sekhon and Dewan said that the donation festival is being celebrated in accordance with the RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) model and ‘Mission Life’ program of the Government of India. The aim of this year’s event is to collect old and new materials from citizens, organizations, industries and clubs.

From October 2 to 8, residents can donate clothes, books, shoes, toys, games, stationery, electronics, bedding and groceries. These materials will be carefully segregated and distributed to NGOs that work directly in slum areas. The collected items will be distributed through RRR centers and NGOs to ensure that they reach the needy persons.

More than 70 dropping centers have been set up in Ludhiana and 50 dropping centers have been set up in other cities where citizens can donate items etc. To find the nearest dropping center, donors can give a missed call on 7877778803 and get the details on WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aditya Dechalwal appealed to the residents of the city to donate old/new items during the ‘Daan Utsav’ as the items which are no longer useful in our homes can be helpful to others and bring relief to the needy. And can bring a smile.
