A massive protest was held outside the SGPC office under the leadership of Sant Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, the head of Damdami Taksal, for the restoration of the Jathedars of the three Takht Sahibans. SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami reached the protest and obtained a memorandum, in which the restoration of the Jathedars was demanded and it was announced that the next program would be drawn up if the demands were not met by April 15.
Recently, there was a huge protest among Sikh organizations against the arbitrary changes made by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to the Jathedars of the three Takht Sahibans of the Sikhs, regarding which Sant Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, the head of Damdami Taksal, had announced a protest outside the SGPC office S. Teja Singh Samundri Hall in Anandpur Sahib on March 14.
Under the leadership of Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, a large number of Sant Samaj and all Sikh organizations, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Chief Khalsa Diwan, Nihang Singh organizations, Panthic organizations and Sangat first took out a peaceful protest march at the Golden Gate of New Amritsar, then from there a convoy took out a peaceful protest march towards the office of the Shiromani Committee. The convoy of Panthic organizations has reached outside the Saravan near the Sri Harmandir Sahib complex where a dharna has been held after the police stopped the convoy and the recitation of Sri Sukhmani Sahib Ji has started there. And chanting was done.
During the meeting of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee at Sri Amritsar Sahib, Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale, Head of Damdami Taksal, President Sant Samaj and all organizations and Sikh Sant Samaj, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Chief Khalsa Diwan, Nihang Singh organizations, Panthic organizations, Sangats were led by the following three resolutions. Which were submitted to the President of the Shiromani Committee, Harjinder Singh Dhami. Through the first resolution, all the Sangats and Saint Mahapurush participating in the protest dharna affirm the resolution number one of the Panthic gathering held at Sri Anandpur Sahib on March 14, 2025. Through which the appointment of Bhai Kuldeep Singh Gargajj and Baba Tek Singh Dhanaula as Jathedars of Takht Sahibans was cancelled.
Resolution 2 asked Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh Ji Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Singh Sahib Giani Sultan Singh Ji Jathedar Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib and Singh Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh Ji Jathedar Takht Sri Damdama Sahib to respect the sentiments of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Panth by immediately handing over the service as Jathedars of the Takht Sahibs. The third resolution demanded that the procedure for handing over the service and releasing the Jathedars of the Takht Sahibs be made by taking the Sikh sects, Damdami Taksal, Nihang Singh organizations, Chief Khalsa Diwan, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Singh Sabhas, Sabha Societies and Sikh scholars into confidence. Sikh organizations also warned that keeping in mind the sentiments of the entire Sikh community, the Jathedars of the three Takht Sahibans should be reinstated before Tuesday, April 15, 2025 and the new appointments should be canceled. If the Singh Sahibans are not reinstated by April 15, 2025, then the next program will be drawn up in consultation with the Sikh sects, Damdami Taksal, Sant Samaj, Nihang Singh organizations, Chief Khalsa Diwan, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and Sikh Sangat.
Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, who is leading the protest march, said that this protest march of his is purely religious, under which the main demand is to reinstate the retired Jathedars. He told the media that this protest march has no political purpose and it is a peaceful protest. The manner in which the Jathedars of the Takhts of the Executive Committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee were retired recently has caused great resentment in the entire Sikh world. I understand that the resignation of the President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Committee, Sardar Harjinder Singh Dhami, was also a major reason due to which every Sikh’s heart is sad and there is great resentment within the Sikh Sangat. Sant Samaj held a gathering at Sri Anandpur Sahib on March 14 in which a resolution was passed to reinstate the removed Jathedars. He said that some people are criticizing this religious work today, which is not right. Whenever religious issues have come forward, the Panthic organizations, the society and the Panth have come forward and raised their voices. I would like to say that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee is that great organization of the Sikh Panth which is doing a great religious service within the service of the Panth. We do not want any conflict with the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. In response to a question, he said that one thing I want to ask is who told the Akalis to voluntarily retire the Singh Sahibans? Did the Delhi government tell them? You also made a wrong decision and you blame the Delhi government for the wrong decision, with whom you had a partnership for 30 years and who shared the kingdom with the people of Delhi. We, the Sant Samaj, the Damdami Taksal, played the biggest and most important role in establishing the rule of these people twice in Punjab.
Hitting back at Delhi Akali Dal leader Paramjit Sarna, he said that the Sarnas were called the Congress’s brokers, who for 15 years they violated the Sikh principles, when the Panth took them out of Delhi and today they have rejected the man of Punjab.
He has infiltrated the Akali Dal to spoil the atmosphere.
On this occasion, Haryana Committee leader Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal said that the responsibility of the Shiromani Committee is great, which has to stop this conflict. There is no conflict from our side, but when the Badal family has made the situation so bad and has destroyed all our institutions and principles that the dignity and traditions of Akal Takht Sahib have also been destroyed in this way, then what is left for us. So for this reason, I understand that today, big sins have been committed, because of which all their associates have gone away one by one. Today, if Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa is also going away from them and appealing to the Panth that the principles are being destroyed, we should save them, then some big sins must have been committed. So for this reason, today they have raised their voice, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee which are two elected organizations after SGPC, they also supported this call that the call given by Damdami Taksal, in a peaceful manner, we have to appeal to our big organization Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee and its general house to the members. The resolutions passed by the executive in the past have also been rejected before. When the deal was an apology from the sadh, that too had to be rejected due to the pressure of the Panth and just like the Guru’s Golak worth more than 90 lakh rupees, that too had to be returned to Sukhbir Singh Badal due to the pressure of the Panth and the order of the Akal Takht.
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Sardar Harmeet Singh Kalka said that the whole world knows that the boundaries within which the Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee has been playing for the past few years, from where it is being operated and the decisions it has taken are becoming a cause of protest among Sikhs all over the world today. I can say that the head of Damdami Taksal, Baba Harnam Singh Ji Khalsa, has now given the order for the protest dharna, which is right because the decisions taken by the Shiromani Committee against the Jathedars and the procedure for removing the Jathedars are hanging in the balance. We, considering it our duty, have come and stood with those organizations which give the principles of Akal Takht Sahib.
