Donald Trump formally declared winner in joint session of Congress


Donald Trump has been formally declared the winner of a second term as President in a joint session of Congress. The session was presided over by Vice President Kamala Harris. During the proceedings that lasted about 30 minutes, no member of Congress raised any objection and the session ended in a very peaceful atmosphere. On this occasion, the election results were read and it was announced that Trump had obtained the 270 electoral votes required to become the next president. As soon as Trump’s victory was announced, the members present in the joint session applauded very politely. Talking to reporters after the session, Kamala Harris said that today I have fulfilled my duty, which I have been fulfilling throughout my entire public life. She said that I have fulfilled my constitutional duty to uphold the decision given by the American people and the voters. House Speaker Mike Johnson said in a post on social media that this has been a great political comeback in American history and we are now ready to move forward.
