Dr. Manmohan Singh’s last rites were performed in a manner that made Sikhs feel like stepchildren by ignoring his service to the country: Sarna

Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away yesterday at the age of 92, has suffered a great loss to the entire India. He played an important role in strengthening India economically. Along with this, he further enhanced the respect of our turban at the international level.

The President of the Delhi unit of the Shiromani Akali Dal, S. Paramjit Singh Sarna, said in a statement issued to the press that the Central Government’s rejection of the request made by his family to perform his last rites at Raj Ghat is a highly condemnable act. It is not only disrespectful to a noble person who was dedicated to this country but also disrespectful to our turban. While it has been the tradition to perform the last rites of former Prime Ministers at Raj Ghat. In the history of post-independence, there have been very few Prime Ministers whose tenure was 10 years or more. Whereas the cremation of personalities who remained Prime Minister for a short time has also been done at Raj Ghat as a mark of respect. But the Central Government insulting a former Prime Minister who gave a new direction to the country and who was the only Sikh Prime Minister of the country in this way proves that the Sikh community, which has made the most sacrifices for the country and contributed the most to the progress of the country, is being discriminated against at the government level. Because if this can happen to a former Prime Minister who has selflessly served the country, then there is no need to say anything about the common Sikh.

The BJP government at the Center in India is continuously discriminating against the Sikh community. In which the Central Government is neither releasing the imprisoned Sikhs, nor is it solving the farmer’s problems, our Guru Ghars are being directly or indirectly occupied and now such discrimination against a former Sikh Prime Minister at the last moment makes clear the attitude of the current government towards the Sikhs. But the Central Government should understand that this will strengthen the feeling of alienation in the minority community that has contributed significantly to the progress of the country. The Central Government will also be responsible for it.
