The meaning of forgiveness…

Just as a person who takes Amrit, freed from his previous work, deeds and religion, adopts a new life path and takes a vow to live his next life accordingly, similarly, when a Sikh does any work in the field of his religious, social and political life which is not in accordance with Gurmat, he appears at Sri Akal Takht Sahib and gets his mistake forgiven. He is reintegrated into the Panth in a formal manner and is motivated to live his life according to Gurmat principles from now on.
Mistakes are associated with the worldly life of a person and there is no person in the world who does them by mistake. Every religion has a method of making its followers realize their mistakes. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, considering man as forgetful, says – भुलन अंद्रि सुबु को अभुलु गुरु करत्री को अभुलु गुरु करत्री के अभुलु करत्री मर्नु के अभुलु गुर This does not mean that a person cannot be free from his mistakes and if this is not possible, he may go into a state of shock from which it is sometimes difficult to get out. Gurbani always motivates a person to realize the joy and bliss of life so that he always tries to remain active in the direction of God. Making mistakes and being free from mistakes go hand in hand.

Gurbani solves this dilemma that when a person realizes his mistake and forgives the mistake, his life flow becomes active in the direction of development as before. Guru Nanak Dev Ji tries to instill in the Sikh mind the feeling of ‘You are a sinner, but You are the Forgiver’ so that the Sikh, free from ego, lives a life of surrender and humility, from which the path of benevolence and bliss develops.
Maya is considered the cause of the deviation of human life, which separates him from the divine life and connects him with worldly life, and a person who does not try to be free from it is surrounded by physical and mental problems. Guru Arjan Dev Ji, while describing the changing mental direction and crisis of man under the influence of Maya, says:
